Editing Hell
The last three days have been non-stop, solid editing of the Artists’ Essentials DVDs and it’s coming along well. Donna and I are doing some extra shooting tomorrow to fill in a few holes in content. We hope to have a DVD off to the duplicators in about two weeks. Here’s a taste of an earlier version of our cover art for Volume 1:

It’s been through a few revisions since then, but this is the overall look we’re going for with the box art on the series.
I have a few more pics from the Weekend Warriors shoot to post soon. We’re putting together a newer, better image gallery system, with many more pics, so be on the lookout!

Weekend Warlords Update
Principal shooting on “Weekend Warlords” is complete! We’ve returned from the Gates of Summer “Dagorhir”:http://www.dagorhir.com event with bundles of great footage for our new documentary.

We’ll be shooting follow-ups with two of the fighters over the next couple of weeks, documenting their lives off of the battlefield. After that, we’ll start the editing process, weaving this raw potential into gold. We aim to have a final product by the end of summer, so keep an eye on us.

I can’t even begin to describe the ridiculous amount of fun we had last weekend. If we capture half of it in the film, you’re all in for quite a ride. The pictures should give you some idea. The yellow garments Ryan and I are wearing, by the way, kept us from being beaten in the line of artistic duty.

On behalf of Todd, Ryan, Tracie, and myself, I’d like to thank the “Dominion of the Unconquered Sun”:http://www.geocities.com/unconsun (and all their guests) for letting us into their amazing world. We met with kindness, generosity, and friendship all weekend. Working out aggressions with foam weapons must be the world’s greatest therapy, because these are the nicest bunch of folks you’ll ever meet.
More news soon!

Weekend Warlords
Red40 will be on location this weekend outside of Holden, Missouri, shooting a new short-subject documentary. “Weekend Warlords” will give viewers a peek at the unique game of “Dagorhir”:http://www.dagorhir.com.
Dagorhir is something truly different. The Dagorhirians stage full-scale battles straight out of Dark Age history, J.R.R. Tolkien, and other sources too numerous to mention. I’m talking elves, orcs, Romans, pirates, etc., etc., all beating the stuffing out of each other. And don’t get me wrong when I say “stage.” This is a full-contact sport, complete with swords, arrows, and assorted instruments of bludgeoning. All the weapons are wrapped in foam to cut down on injuries, but the experience is still pretty intense.
The good folk in “The Dominion of the Unconquered Sun”:http://www.geocities.com/unconsun have been kind enough to let us into their annual event, The Gates of Summer, to document these happenings. We’re hoping to follow an individual or group of individuals throughout the weekend, and possibly a little further. “Weekend Warlords” will be a basic introduction to Dagorhir and a look into the world of those who love it.
What else can I say? This is going to be a good one, people! Keep an eye out for more news and pictures soon.
